Prestoring lithium into SnO2 coated 3D carbon fiber cloth framework as dendrite-free lithium metal anode

For several decades, the promise of implementing lithium (Li) metal anodes has been regarded as ‘‘holy grail’’ for Li-based batteries. Herein, we have proposed a facile design carbon fiber cloth (CFC) framework coated with SnO2 nanoparticles through hydrothermal process, which served reliable host prestoring molten Li to produce [email protected]2@Li composite anode. XRD, TEM, HRTEM, XPS and different electrochemical characterizations were carried out. Owing synergetic effects 3D conductive CFC lithiophilic nanoparticles, designed electrodes can buffer volume changes reduce local current density, thus suppress dendrites during cycling. Consequently, protected]2 showed high stable CE 98.6% 1000 cycles at density 1 mA cm−2 (1 mAh cm−2). What is more, 5 areal capacity cm−2, symmetric cell displayed relatively low overpotential long cycling lifetime 1600 h. The results confirm its great potential in practical battery applications.
